But Kerridge admits that, for now at least, you’ll have to stand at the bar. “We originally set out to have the four tables in the bar as drinkers only, but as the reputation grew people would say 'can I eat there?’ and we’d say of course you can. So we are having an extension built, and it’s not to increase the number of tables [for eating]. It’s to encourage real ale drinking.”
